CURRENT VACANCIES

CODED WELDERS - SHIP REPAIR / FABRICATION

We are looking to recruit time served coded welders with experience in ship repair to join our team to assist on several up coming repair contracts we have.  


The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must have a valid welding coding / qualification, original copies, stamped and up to date.


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.  


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions  
  • Understand and follow health & safety arrangements 
  • 111 and 136 coded welding
  • Working alongside platers fitting and welding hull plating
  • Welding pipe, shell plate, bulkheads and other structural parts of the vessel
  • Fabrication work in the workshop
  • Mobilisation of the vessel, fitting deck equipment etc
  • Steel preparation, disk grinding etc
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

PLATER / FABRICATOR - SHIP REPAIR

We are looking to recruit time served platers with experience in ship repair to join our team to assist on several up coming repair contracts we have.


The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must be conversant with the reading of structural steelworks drawings and be able to develop and fabricate components independently.  


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions 
  • Understand and follow health & safety arrangements 
  • Interpret and work from 2 dimensional drawings, and x, y, z, co-ordinate hot-work drawings
  • Have ALL the basic hand skills, i.e. Burning & chamfering of thick and thin plate using oxy-propane and plasma. Tack welding and short run fillet welding. 
  • Accurate Marking off, and measurement using Tapes straight edges, Levels, squares, string/chalk lines, and plumb bobs
  • Ability to use a Dumpy level and laser plane level 
  • Use of grinder and changing discs 
  • Experience in use of strong-backs and fairing aids to prevent distortion. 
  • Bending and forming of thick and thin plate in situ 
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

We are looking to recruit several mechanical engineers with experience in ship repair to join our team to assist on several up coming repair contracts we have.   


The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must be conversant with all aspects of the overhaul of mechanical component on board.  


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.    


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions  
  • Understand and follow health & safety arrangements 
  • Work unsupervised
  • Report regular updates to the supervisor
  • Experience overhauling sea valves, pumps, box coolers, thrusters, ramp pins, basic hydraulic components.
  • Must be a team player
  • Have experience in ship repair / new build vessel construction 
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

SHIP SPRAYER / PAINTER

We are looking to recruit several painter / blasters with experience in ship repair to join our team to assist on several up coming repair contracts we have.    


The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must be conversant with the use of cherry pickers and scissor lifts as well as spray painting.     


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.  


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions   
  • Understand and follow health & safety arrangements 
  • Steel preparation and mark up (discing etc)
  • Touch up work
  • Spray painting
  • Working from heights
  • Using the cherry picker and harness
  • Working in teams
  • Working in enclosed spaces
  • Jet washing the vessel
  • Have experience in ship repair / new build vessel construction 
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

PIPEFITTER

We are looking to recruit time served pipe fitters with experience in ship repair to join our team to assist on several up coming repair contracts we have.  


The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must be conversant with the reading of drawings and be able to develop and fabricate components independently.    


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.  


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Be able to read isometric drawings
  • Have at least 1 year experience in pipe fabrication and pipe fitting in a fabrication workshop environment.
  • Be able to fit and fabricate pipework within +/- 1 mm tolerance
  • Be able to tack weld and burn / grind
  • Be able to use all tools to fabricate and tack weld pipelines  
  • Be able to do calculations to cut back sizes for bends and fittings
  • Have experience in ship repair / new build vessel construction
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.

The contracts are located at a busy UK ship repair yard. Applicants must be conversant with the reading of electrical drawings.      


Various shifts are available, days and nights, short term contracts, long term rotation options.    


Main Duties and Responsibilities Include: 


  • Understand and follow written and/or oral instructions    
  • Understand and follow health & safety arrangements 
  • Interpret electrical drawings
  • Cable pulling, terminating, glanding
  • Wiring up control panels.
  • Testing installations
  • Working in pairs with the clients workforce
  • Have experience in ship repair / new build vessel construction 
  • Working to a consistently high standard in a busy environment.  
  • Competitive salary offered, and logistical support when working away from home.
